SURRENDERING A DOG
We know it is difficult…we do not judge.
Surrendering a pet is a hard thing to do especially in bad circumstances. Sometimes what’s best for your pet is providing them with a second chance in a new environment. The Big Dog House is a dog rescue sanctuary in Port Hope. We rehabilitate dogs from all over Ontario and match them with the best home that suits all of their needs. We screen all of our potential adopters so that we know your pet is going into a safe and stable home. Our volunteers and fosters help provide the best care for your pet until their new home is ready for them.

Please fill out the form below. One of our staff members will contact you back as soon as possible.
Fee
Surrender fee: $100 deposit fee till we have the dog in a foster home.
If your dog is not spayed/neutered, you will need to pay a $500 non refundable fee.
Foster
We have temporarily turned into a foster based rescue!
This surrender will be assessed and put into a loving foster home till adopted!
PROCESS OF SURRENDERING
When surrendering a dog to us, we will ask you to fill out our digital form which is below.
Once we receive your surrender form, we will contact you via e-mail as soon as possible!
Once we have contacted you, we will proceed to look for a suitable foster for this surrender.
In process of all this..we will start asking you for the surrender deposit fee of $100.00 to be E-Transfer to our e-mail: thebigdoghouseontario@gmail.com..If you are required to pay the $500.00 surrender fee for a dog still INTACT, you can use the $100.00 deposit fee towards the $500.00 owed. If not, we will return the $100.00 deposit fee once we have the dog in our organization.
Once we have received your fees we will start transportation! You can keep updated through our facebook/Instagram pages!
Please understand that once this surrender has started it cannot be undone.
Please also respect the fact that our team volunteers their efforts to rehome these dogs properly..if you are communicating with another animal rescue or making other arrangements, please make us aware.
IMPORTANT
You cannot have future communication with any of the fosters or adopters.
This is to protect the DOG.
(It is very confusing for a animal to be reminded of a family that will not take it home!)

Once you sign ownership of your pet to us, they will not be available to be returned to you. If you would like to be updated on how your pet is doing in their new home, we can provide updates with pictures through email or you can check our Facebook and Instagram as we post updates there.
