SURRENDERING A DOG
We know it is difficult…we do not judge.
We are currently not taking in surrenders at the moment, we apologize for the inconvenience this may cause… please contact your local shelter for any emergency rehoming.
However…please be in mind… there is a $100.00 surrender deposit fee… until we have the dog in our organization! Will be returned as long as surrender is complete! This helps insure that our volunteer teammates do not waste their efforts in finding foster homes for the surrender!
Surrendering a pet is a hard thing to do especially in bad circumstances. Sometimes what’s best for your pet is providing them with a second chance in a new environment. The Big Dog House is a dog rescue sanctuary in Port Hope. We rehabilitate dogs from all over Ontario and match them with the best home that suits all of their needs. We screen all of our potential adopters so that we know your pet is going into a safe and stable home. Our volunteers and fosters help provide the best care for your pet until their new home is ready for them.

Fee
Surrender fee: $100 for neutered/spayed dog UNVACCINATED.
If your dog is not spayed/neutered, you will need to pay a $500 fee.
Foster
We have temporarily turned into a foster based rescue!
This surrender will be assessed and put into a loving foster home till adopted!

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DOG YOU SURRENDERED TO US FOR 31 DAYS. IF YOUR DOG BITES ANOTHER ANIMAL. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE. IF YOUR DOG BITES A HUMAN WHEN DEEMED FRIENDLY… THE MUNICIPALITY WILL BE INVOLVED. PLEASE BE FULLY TRANSPARENT ABOUT YOUR DOGS DEMEANOR. YOU CAN BE FINED UP TO $2000 FOR INVALID INFORMATION.
Once you sign ownership of your pet to us, they will not be available to be returned to you. If you would like to be updated on how your pet is doing in their new home, we can provide updates with pictures through email or you can check our Facebook and Instagram as we post updates there.
